Eve’s Women in Leadership – Marilyn
Meet Marilyn! Marilyn is our Head if Sanitation here at Eve & Co. We sat down with Marilyn to learn why she is such a valuable member of our team. It’s sure to leave you with some laughs along the way!
Tell us about your role at Eve & Co:
As the Sanitation manager, I ensure all staff are trained on cleaning procedures to a level of pharmaceutical clean. “Hospital clean”. Anything less is not acceptable. I keep the facility from the front door to the vault clean. I stock supplies, do laundry, and complete weekly, monthly, and semi-annual cleans with my staff. I also inspect rooms for anything extra we could do to make it better on a regular basis.
What is your favorite part about your job and why?
Everything – because I’m passionate about cleaning and I have a good bond with my workers. We’re a team!
Tell us something about yourself that not many people are aware of:
I play the spoons!
What was your first job ever?
I was a turkey wrangler! At thirteen years old I worked on a turkey farm. When it was time to ship the birds, there were women with bags at the back of the barn and we shook the bags to scare the birds to make them move, at which point young men and boys would catch the birds by their feet, and hand them up to another man who put them on a semi-truck.
What are you reading right now?
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a big reader. “The Art and Science of Dealing with Difficult People” by David Brown. I’m learning how to communicate more efficiently, build stronger relationships, and how to revolutionize my work dynamic.
Who is someone you really admire?
Karen O’Hagan. She is my right hand and she is an amazing human being! Before she started, her husband who also works here told me of a journey that the love of his life went through. It sent goosebumps everywhere. She has a tremendous desire for life and love. She is kind and understanding. She has great values and morals. She always is quick with a smile or a laugh to brighten your day. She’s an amazing woman I am proud to have gotten to know.
