Eve’s Women in Leadership – Kelsey

March 7, 2019

Please describe your job title and your responsibilities at Eve & Co.

Like many others in this company and industry, I’m a multiple-hats-kind-of-woman, and my title is constantly evolving. I deal with our provincial partners on the recreational side of our business. I also oversee regulatory affairs, packaging, shipping/logistics, business & product development and I help with marketing/branding. We’re still trying to find the right title.

What is a common misconception you see about your job?

I think a common misconception is just how strictly regulated this industry is. We often have people asking if they can stop by and purchase product or plants from our facility. There’s a lot of opportunity for us to talk about cannabis and, specifically, cannabis in Canada which is very important to us at Eve & Co.

And, unfortunately, no – there’s no such thing as a friends and family discount here.

How would you describe your job to a child?

This is something I’ve had to do! My husband and I both work at Eve & Co. and our children know that we work in a greenhouse, growing flowers. This seems to suffice for now, but I’m sure the questions will come when they’re older. When they do, I’ll answer honestly.

What is the best part about your job?

The absolute best part is the group of people I work with. It’s a team-oriented atmosphere and there’s always a feeling of support. I am empowered to be the best leader I can be here, and that has really helped me to succeed in my role. I love that this job challenges me. I’ve learned so much in the last 14 months and I’m never bored.

What was the last TV show you watched and why did you choose it?

Schitt’s Creek, because it’s hilarious and I appreciate that it’s Canadian!
