Eve’s Take on International Women’s Day 2021 – Lucie

Meet Lucie, Team Lead of Bulk Bag Packaging here at Eve & Co.
Please tell us about your role at Eve & Co.
My job is to make sure that we, as a team, get our quota fulfilled, and that we’re following rules, regulations and that the paperwork is all completed. I also ensure that we are effectively communicating with other teams to make sure the process continues to run smoothly.
The theme for IWD 2021 is “Choose to Challenge”, what do you choose to challenge?
I choose to challenge empowering girls to be all they can be. As a Brownie and Girl Guide leader for 20 years, I think it’s very important that we start this mindset from an early age. The world is getting better for girls and women but there is still a long ways to go. There are so many girls that have so much potential we just need to provide them the tools to achieve that. I think education and supporting organizations like ‘Plan Canada’ or ‘Because I’m a girl’ are other great causes that can help support women to the education and opportunities everyone deserves.
Who is one of your role models?
Greta Thunberg, because she’s not your typical young woman. She’s not focused on makeup or clothes, she has a different perspective, and she’s able to focus on that and the best part is she’s really getting her message across regarding climate change. I feel she inspires us all to speak our truth, so many times girls are told not to speak but that should not be the case.
What does it mean to empower women to you?
Giving them the tools and the knowledge that they need so they can be successful and happy in both their personal and professional lives; that’s the ultimate goal.
If you could leave one piece of advice, a quote or a message to woman-kind, what would it be?
Yes, you can. How many times are girls told they must be pretty, quiet, behaved, that it’s a man’s world, things are too heavy for them to lift, that it’s not a job for woman? This should not be the case, we all have the same abilities and you can do anything you put your mind to. So my advice is ‘Yes! You can do anything’.
