Eve’s Take on International Women’s Day 2021 – Kim

Meet Kim, Purcahsing Coordinator here at Eve & Co.
Please tell us about your role at Eve & Co.
My job is Purchasing and Health & Safety; however, I am happy to jump in and assist wherever I can. I enjoy wearing multiple hats. It gives me a better comprehension of this company as a whole. Better insight into what we need to do to meet our goals.
The theme for IWD 2021 is “Choose to Challenge”, what do you choose to challenge?
I choose to challenge mental health awareness. “It’s ok, to not be ok…just don’t give up.” Women need to learn to live by this. It’s ok to not be the perfect wife, the perfect mother, the perfect friend. We are human. We have our moments. Reach down and find your inner strength and courage. Ask for help. Don’t be afraid. And don’t ever give up.
Who is one of your role models?
Undoubtedly, this is my mom. She is the strongest woman I know, and I admire everything about her. She is my best friend. I can talk to her about anything. She has taught me a quiet kind of strength. She has shown me that it is ok to cry, and definitely that it is ‘ok to not be ok’. To be yourself. To be kind to others. To be a little bit stubborn, but to know when to ask for help. There is no one like her.
What does it mean to empower women to you?
Empowered women empower women. If you instill confidence, strength, and encourage others around you, you are on the right path. If you help empower the women around you, the support you receive in return will be amazing. Surrounding yourself with positive people will encourage you and instill positivity in your life.
If you could leave one piece of advice, a quote or a message to woman-kind, what would it be?
You can always tell who the strong women are. They are the ones building one another up rather than tearing each other down.
