Eve’s Take on International Women’s Day 2021 – James

Meet James, Supervisor of Plant Movement here at Eve & Co.

Please tell us about your role at Eve & Co.

I’ve done a variety of different jobs here at Eve & Co. from maintenance too all stages of production. Currently, I’m supervisor for plant movement.

The theme for IWD 2021 is “Choose to Challenge”, what do you choose to challenge?

I choose to challenge mental health for sure, I sympathize with mental health awareness for both men and women. We need to destigmatize the challenge of life, it is not easy, it’s full of tragedy, suffering, and stigmas..

Who is one of your role models?

My mother, a saint in my eyes, I aspire to be as empathetic and proactive in my own community. She was a mediator for human rights for people in various different situations. She helped me grow up with a very positive view and adherent respect for woman.

What does it mean to empower women to you?

I think first and foremost empowerment comes from knowledge and education; furthermore, opportunities for education especially for woman who have suffered hardships. Especially providing equal opportunity when it comes to class mobility.

If you could leave one piece of advice, a quote or a message to woman-kind, what would it be?

Don’t forget to breathe. I find connecting to your own breath is so important to connecting to your own mental health. You need to take time to connect during this hyperactive world. Mindfulness plays a huge role in humanities future. Be mindful, breath deep.
